Marcia M Publishing House is an independent publisher based in the West Midlands, UK, serving both aspiring and experienced writers worldwide. Founded by Marcia M. Spence in 2015, the publishing house was born out of a passion for helping authors bring their stories to life, no matter where they are in their writing journey. Whether you are a first-time author or an established writer, Marcia M Publishing offers a full range of services, from editing and proofreading to cover design, layout, and marketing strategies.

Meet our founder, Marcia M Spence

Marcia M. Spence is the Director of Marcia M Publishing House Ltd, a company she grew from her bedroom into a powerhouse that has supported over 200 authors across the UK in just five years. Known affectionately as “The Authors’ Midwife” by her clients, Marcia’s nurturing approach helps aspiring authors “birth” their books with care and encouragement. Her reach extends far beyond publishing, as she inspires the masses with her messages of hope through blogging and speaking engagements.

Under Marcia’s leadership, her company has worked on various notable projects, including writing, designing, and developing books and an app for West Midlands Police, as well as creating a special autobiography that was presented to the Queen. Her commitment to the next generation of writers is clear through her annual sponsorship of children’s book-writing and publishing projects, distributing their works to support local causes.

Marcia is also a mentor and has helped three new publishing businesses in her network flourish. She is a multifaceted creative—speaker, broadcaster, blogger, bestselling memoirist, and coach to writers and female leaders. In addition, she serves as the executive producer of Marcia M TV and the host of On the Couch with Marcia M.

In 2024 Marcia M Publishing House partnered with The MBCC Awards, to develop and publish MBBC ASPIRE Magazine, with Marcia leading in the partnership as Editor In Chief, Creative Director, and Publisher of the magazine.

My Story

Marcia’s personal journey of overcoming anxiety, depression, and living with two debilitating nervous system illnesses—Trigeminal Neuralgia and Fibromyalgia—has shaped her life and work. A passionate advocate for hidden disabilities, Marcia’s work has garnered her numerous awards, including the Lift Effects Star of All Stars Award (2015), Black Excellence Awards Author of Colour (2016), the Black Woman of Birmingham Recognition Award (2017), the Books for Peace Humanitarian Silver Ambassador Award (2022), and the Wise Women Awards (2022). Most recently, she was a finalist in the Woman Who Solopreneur Awards (2023) and received the Saluting Our Sisters Recognition Award from Sandwell Metropolitan Council (2023). Marcia also received Best Author 2024 at the GX Awards in September 2024 and is a Finalist in Black Owned Birmingham Awards 2024, for excellence in Media.

In 2025, Marcia is set to launch her second small press, dedicated to showcasing the work of people with invisible disabilities. Her expertise lies in guiding writers through the process of crafting their memoirs and autobiographies.

Marcia M. Spence’s latest resource, the 120 Days to Write Your Memoir Challenge Workbook, is designed to help writers bring their stories to life.
